Early Childhood Program

Our Early Childhood Department prides itself on the developmental approach to learning. Our teachers and staff provide opportunities for the children to explore their environment, discover new entities, enhance their academia, and grow in their surroundings. Spivak Hebrew Academy Preschool uses an array of components from different educational philosophies of Early Childhood education, including Reggio Emilia and Montessori. Our robust toolkit of ideas and experiences enhances our program, keeping us relevant! This co-constructed approach to education is at the cornerstone of what we do.

What We Do During Our Day…

Our day starts in “homeroom” where the children place their belongings and proceed to begin daily activities! Each day starts with the Pledge of Allegiance and Hatikvah. We do morning davening and calendar. Our routine ends with snack. During “indoor work time” the children can explore the art center, library, construction area, sensory tables and science centers, dress- up/dramatic play and playhouse area, blocks, and outside garden area. Additionally, we spend time with bicycles, balls, beanbags and climbing equipment to exercise and develop our gross motor skills. Part of growing and developing is making choices. Children have the opportunity to further investigate their own interests that may evolve into long-range project learning, tailored to the age and stage of the group.

Throughout the day our children have the opportunity to discover new things, communicate and interact with friends and teachers, develop many new skills, including social and behavioral skills, and enjoy lots and lots of fun! Our space is laid out in a way that the children are able to move around and explore many exciting areas for large group and small group learning experiences.
